Sorry, Grandma!

This is our back yard and the yards of some of our neighbors this morning!
This is Trixie (subject to change). She joined our family last week.

Anytime I go a while without a post, Grandma emails me to make sure we're doing ok! We are, but Adelyn hasn't been feeling well (pictures do a good job of showing how unhappy she is), and that usually leaves less time for other stuff...

Adelyn hanging out with daddy after her bath! She's normally up twirling around in circles, but she just wanted to hang out and relax. :)

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Girl

It is so hard to believe that my baby girl is already two years old, but she's got the candles on her cupcake shirt to prove it! She's so sweet and funny, and we feel blessed to be part of her life.
Some funny things about our girl - Adelyn usually refers to her stuffed animals by the noise they make. For example, the Garfield's name is "meow". The puppy used to be "ruff", but he's graduated to puppy for some reason. Thanks to a Wiggles' song, she always growls when she's referring to the bear. It's very cute.
She usually fusses when she first wakes up, but sometimes she just sits up and starts talking. When she woke up from her nap yesterday, she started clapping and saying "Yay!" I heard her on the baby monitor and cracked up!
She likes to lay on her belly in the bathtub and be a "baby boat".
She loves talking on the phone. She points at the phone on the wall and picks up the cell phones all the time. She tells me that she wants to call Nana or Debbie.

Gotta go get dinner together!

Happy New Year

The many faces of Adelyn Rose...

I cheated. I tickled her toes to get this smiley shot.

I can't remember what caused this reaction, but this is Adelyn having a genuine good time.

Who is this big girl? Where's my baby? I can't believe she'll be two years old in about a week.

Adelyn loves her meow! She has a ton of buddies, but "meow" is one of her favorites.
P.S. People may say that TV is bad for kids, but after asking her to say puppy several times and her never even attempting it, she said it all on her own while watching The Wiggles one day! :)

Adelyn has a ton of personality, and she gets funnier all the time. I love it when she cracks herself up. She likes to hide from us - under the sheets, in the curtains, behind corners, and she'd be pretty good at it if she didn't snicker the whole time! It's too cute.
She's also decided that from time to time, I'm not mommy anymore, but just "mom". I'm not sure why, but I've gone from momma to mommy to sometimes just "mom".
She's also become very fond of saying, "hole me" (should be "hold"). She especially likes to request it when I'm "gooking" (cooking). She actually says "k" sounds quite well, but sometimes when the "k" comes at the beginning of a word, it turns into a g.
I hope everyone had a wonderful 2008, and we wish you an even better 2009!

Adelyn's 2nd Christmas

Look at this sweet little profile.... She was exhausted by the time - you can't run as hard as Adelyn does for very long without running out of steam. As challenging as Adelyn can be sometimes, she's very easy at naptime and bedtime. After playing hard, she's ready to get a little R&R!

Grandma Debbie got Adelyn a play hut - it can be a bus or a fire engine - this become her sanctuary when she got tired of being social.

Adelyn was very methodical about opening her gifts - she tore the paper off in very small pieces.

I call this the redneck slide - it wasn't invented in KY either - Seth's family lives in Illinois. Adelyn is always up for some "aw, wee" (that's what she says when she goes down a slide or even sees a picture of one in a book). Seth held up one side of the bench and Adelyn slid down it - over and over again!

Here's our little cobbler - before she opened her Christmas gifts, she played with some of the toys that belonged to some of her older cousins. :)

I don't spend enough time documenting all of Adelyn's cuteness - the blog is a nice way for me to look back and recall some of the hillarious things she does. Kids change so fast that if you don't really savor a phase, it will be gone and forgotten until something causes it to come out of a dark corner in your mind. Anyway, Adelyn had really gotten into The Wiggles over the last few months. When I'm in the shower, I usually put something on the laptop for her to watch. After picking it up from Captain Feathersword, Adelyn has started saying "Blow me down!" It is so cute. She loves her babies, and she rocks them and pats them on the "bock". Again, very cute and sweet. She loves playing with "Meow", a gift from "Debbie" (she can't say Grandma yet, and I used to refer to her as Grandma Debbie - she says Debbie very well).
She loves cats and dogs. My mom has a cat. The other day she decided she wanted to go see "Nana". She said "Nana ... Meow" and gave Seth and I a very emphatic nod of her sweet little head.
She loves music and especially watching people sing. She refers to this as "waa waa", and she wants to see "waa waa" all the time. If the laptop is on the kitchen table, she'll go over to the chair, climb up in it, open the laptop and demand "waa waa". She loves the theme song to the King of Queens. Our girl is rarely still and quiet, but when that song comes one, she gives it her full attention and will clap and say "yay!" afterwards.
I know I'm leaving out tons of things that regularly make Seth and I laugh, but that's plenty for right now. I'm going to try to do better to document these little details as I'd hate to forget them.
Adelyn is a very determined, very busy, very sweet little girl. She's such a blessing to us, and being a parent with Seth has only made me love him more. He's the best daddy. Adelyn and I are blessed to have him.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all a blessed 2009!
